Wonago Word Weavers Writing Group, Mukwonago (Waukesha County) 3/30/16

One of my writing goals this year is to attend this monthly meeting. I have to clear a few big projects away before I can do more, but at least I can do this.

Wonago Word Weavers writing group meets at 6:30pm on the last Wednesday of every month (except November & December) at the Mukwonago Library. It's a productive writing group and only takes me about 40 minutes to get there.

Every month Jan, a published author and group coordinator puts together and emails us a list of contests and markets. She is challenging us to submit and get something published.

Bob, Jan and both Toms shared their work for critique.

This month I learned
  • About writing thoughts in third person. Can use questions and sentence fragments
  • Hooks. Use questions and power words which are strong words like special, love, blood, red, pain.... I tried a quick search online for a list but didn't find anything right away.
  • When writing a book, set goals with deadlines. List what each chapter should include.
